Overview

Enroll in the IFSA in Chile: Chilean Universities Program for the freedom to choose classes from three of Latin America's top universities in Santiago. This program is designed for you to live like a Santiaguino, learn local customs from a carefully selected host family, and study alongside Chilean peers. In order to participate, you need to complete at least 4 semesters of Spanish, or the equivalent, prior to departure.

Academic Program

During the semester, you can take courses at one or as many partner universities in Santiago, which include: Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, Universidad de Chile, and Universidad Diego Portales. A wide range of coursework is offered across the three universities, and common courses that students take are the Arts, History, Literature, Political Science, Psychology, Religion and Sociology.

To complement your learning, you may also take IFSA-taught elective classes specially designed to increase language skills and facilitate engagement in the local community. These classes are taught in Spanish by local professors.

Program Features

While in Santiago, you live with a host family. The homestay will allow you to practice your Spanish in a more casual environment than the classroom while gaining insight into the daily life of Chileans.

You can get involved with the local community through volunteer projects, campus groups, and activities. Day trips are also available throughout the semester provided by IFSA to further your understanding and immersion into Chilean culture.
