Program Description:

Overview

RThe CIEE program at St. Petersburg State University is a supported enrollment program offered during the fall, spring, and academic year, to students with at least 4 semesters of Russian. The program is intensive and focuses on improving students' Russian language skills. All students live in a homestay with a Russian family.

Academic Program

The curriculum for this program includes required courses at the appropriate level in:
  • Russian grammar
  • Russian phonetics
  • Russian conversation
Students also choose elective courses in Russian literature, history, politics, culture and arts.

Program Features

Students have the opportunity to participate in volunteer projects organized through a well-developed network of contacts that facilitate integration into Russian society. CIEE also offers a rich cultural program including local and regional excursions, visits to museums and historical sites, and interaction with locals. 

To ensure a high level of linguistic growth, students are also paired with peer language partners.

There is a two-part application process for this program: an internal Columbia approval process called 'clearance' and an external admission application submitted directly to this program. Click "Start an Application" above for instructions and to begin.
