Housing and Meals

KCJS staff members place students in homestays or apartments based on individual preferences.

Homestay family

Most students choose to live with a Japanese family.
"Over the course of the year, my host parents and I had numerous fascinating conversations comparing and contrasting Eastern and Western cultures. It was certainly mind opening to learn about different points of view through these conversations."
Homestays are an effective means for developing Japanese language skills and insights into the society, as well as for the personal support they provide. Homestay families may involve students in their social activities and help them pursue their individual interests.

All students will have a commute to the KCJS office involving a walk, a bike, bus, or train ride or a combination of these.

For students living in a homestay, breakfast and dinner are included. Students housed in apartments are responsible for their own meals. All students receive a lunch stipend.
