Faculty and Staff

The Resident Director, Hailong Wang, holds an M.A. in linguistics and anthropology from Columbia University and an M.A. in comparative literature from Shanghai Normal University. He has been teaching in the Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures at Columbia University since 1996. Wang Laoshi has directed and taught in the Shanghai summer program since its inception in 2004. Prior to this program, he taught Chinese for Columbia's summer language program in Beijing for three summers.

Zhongqi Shi is the Assistant Resident Director. Shi Laoshi holds an M.A. in Linguistics and Applied Linguistics from Beijing Language and Culture University. He has worked in the Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures at Columbia University since 2005 where he teaches Business Chinese. He has also taught on the Columbia summer language program in Beijing.

Under the supervision of Wang Laoshi and Shi Laoshi, local university instructors will also teach some components of the Chinese language courses.
