Ecology and Conservation in Botswana

A field study program for students interested in issues surrounding the long-term conservation goals and development needs of local populations in Botswana, one of Africa’s last great wilderness areas. The Kalahari Desert covers nearly 70 percent of the country and has been home to the San peoples for thousands of years. This fragile ecosystem provides a dramatic example of ecological and human adaptation to an extreme climate. The Okavango Delta is a complex ecosystem of rivers, marshes, and islands with diverse wildlife that has been forced to adapt to cyclical changes in landscape and vegetation. Program includes:

  • Setswana Language Study
  • Ecology and conservation Seminar
  • Environmental Field Study Practicum
  • Independent Study Project
  • Rural homestays
  • educational excursions to conservation areas
Appropriate for E3B & environmental biology students. For more Information, contact , or make an appointment with
