Notes:
Quito, Ecuador’s picturesque 9,000-foot-high capital, is a bustling city with international, colonial, and indigenous influences. The Duke in the Andes program takes an interdisciplinary approach to area and cultural studies, centered around a core seminar that encompasses sociological, anthropological, historical, and cultural aspects of globalization and colonial legacies in the Andean region. In addition to the mandatory core seminar, students choose their remaining courses from selected regular course offerings at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador and the Universidad Politécnica Salesiana in addition to continuing to study the Spanish Language. Students live with host families in Quito.
