The Hebrew University of Jerusalem was opened in 1925 on MountScopus, which overlooks the Old City of Jerusalem. Today nearly 24,000 students study on the four campuses of the University. Students of most majors with at least and intermediate level (Gimel) of Hebrew directly enroll at the university and take regular courses in Hebrew across the various faculties (Arts and Sciences primarily). Students are encouraged to take the Ulpan prior to the start of term and may earn Hebrew language credit. Students live on campus in dormitories.

Students may not earn Columbia credit for classes taken in English at the Rothberg School.
